Roy Murad’s experience of business and hard work began from a young age, when he helped his father run his business by crunching numbers and organizing letters of credit. “When most kids were going to camp I was helping run my father’s business. I always had a gift with numbers,” Roy Murad said.

Less than ten years later, Roy Murad had accrued over 10M in assets from high yielding rental properties and business transactions. My goal was to build up an international clientele, something that wasn’t being done much at the time,” Roy Murad said.

While doing all of this, Roy Murad also made time to get a proper education. Roy Murad received a minor in business and a degree in science. He found these to help him significantly. “It is important, in my opinion, to acquire knowledge from whatever sources and experiences that are possible. You can learn a lot from understanding and appreciate history and accumulated knowledge, while at the same time no amount of knowledge is a substitute for hands on experience,” said Roy Murad.

Roy Murad has used his knowledge and experience to position himself in markets that have large growth potential. Roy Murad sees a lot of business opportunities, sometimes north of 600 a year, and must know which ones to pursue and which ones to pass. Out of those 600, Roy Murad and his company usually get involved with 20-30. Roy Murad has underwritten between $70M and 150M for each of the past 20 years.

While much of Roy Murad’s success is a result of his hard work, determination, and experience, he also believes in surrounding himself with talented people. “I wouldn’t be anywhere without these people around me. In order to succeed in today’s business world, you need to have smart, intelligent people on your side,” Roy Murad said.
