Willis Michalchuk discusses the fad diets that are sweeping our nation and adds his opinions.

Willis Michalchuk has worked in the health and fitness industry for over 20 years as a personal trainer. Willis Michalchuk has worked with a multitude of clients and has helped them reach their fitness and weight loss goals. Over time, Willis Michalchuk has seen many fad diets come and go and he wants to warn people about the dangers of engaging in these nutrition scams. Many people fall victim to the false promises that fad diets guarantee; however, Willis Michalchuk warns that although you may see quick results, it will not work long term.

Willis Michalchuk states, “I want people to realize the importance of a balanced diet. We need certain nutrients; so eliminating all fats or carbohydrates out of your diet is dangerous. It is not a matter of eliminating foods, but instead eating in moderation and selecting healthier choices.” Willis Michalchuk notes that the only foods that are safe to eliminate out of your diet completely are sweets and processed fare. Willis Michalchuk expresses, “I want to continue to warn people to not fall for these cleanses or elimination diets. Although you may lose a few pounds within the first couple of weeks, it is probably because your body is in starvation mode. Over time, your metabolism will begin to slow down if you continue to nourish your body this way. So in the long run, you are doing yourself more harm than good.”

Willis Michalchuk hopes that more people will begin to keep food journals and attempt to eat a balanced diet. Willis Michalchuk suggests, “People should try to keep their diet as natural as possible. Keep your meals colorful, with various fruits and vegetables, and always chose whole-wheat versus processed or bleached carbs. Also, people should make sure they are drinking an adequate amount of water. I see so many people hydrating with diet soda, but that is something that should be eliminated from your diet if possible.” Willis Michalchuk is aware that changing your diet can be a difficult task; however, he suggests taking small steps to accomplish your goals. Willis Michalchuk asserts, “People should slowly implement small changes into their diet and, over time, it will be transformed with ease.”
