Vijay Kumar West Branch is a doctor, politician and upstanding member of his community who has devoted countless hours to helping raise the quality of life for his neighbors in Michigan’s 103rd District. Now, he is embracing an opportunity to make an even larger positive impact on his community by running for a seat in the state’s House of Representatives.

Vijay Kumar West Branch has a strong career history in his work as a physical therapist. He currently owns and operates numerous clinics that have been the subject of praise from patients in those areas. “My clinics have Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy. The community is a retired community and they have a lot of neuromuscular difficulties. The physical therapy is a benefit to these people in the community with these difficulties. We are helping people every day live the quality of life they deserve,” Kumar says.

Kumar holds a State of Michigan Physical Therapy License, and he is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, the Michigan Physical Therapy Association, the American Medical Association and the American Public Health Association. He is also a member of numerous groups and organizations that support the infrastructure and quality of life in his district, such as the Lions Club, the Chamber of Commerce, the Ogemaw County Genealogical and Historical Society and the Indian Association of Physiotherapy.

Perhaps one of the biggest accomplishments of Kumar’s career, in both medicine and politics, was his help in getting Direct Access, a bill that allows patients to bypass a physician and go straight to a physical therapist for treatment, passed in the State of Michigan. He attended multiple Legislative Breakfasts on behalf of Michigan Physical Therapy Association to support the bill; and was even invited by Governor Snyder to attend the signing of the bill.

Aside from his work in medicine and politics, Vijay Kumar of West Branch is also a devoted family man who is married and has three children. He has the professional credentials, the government experience and the family values to be a strong representative of the 103rd District.
