Originally from Arizona, Tyler Kinnerup underwent a big life change in 2009 when he moved across the country to Pennsylvania to pursue his undergraduate degree at Villanova University. Since 2011, Tyler Kinnerup has been a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity at Villanova University. During his time with Phi Gamma Delta, Tyler Kinnerup has served in several important roles related to leadership and fraternity operations. He has served as Pledge Master and Alumni Relations Coordinator in 2012.

For Tyler Kinnerup, choosing a fraternity during rush season was a difficult process. He remarks, “There are so many different options at Villanova University, each with their own set of values.” Tyler Kinnerup knew that this was a decision that could not be made lightly- he knew that he needed to do his research and pick fraternities that seemed to fit his personality and needs. “Phi Gamma Delta- or ‘FIJI’ as we call it- was definitely the right choice for me,” says Tyler Kinnerup. Based on Tyler Kinnerup’s involvement with his fraternity in his leadership roles, it is evident that this statement is true.

The experiences that Tyler Kinnerup has had through his fraternity have been invaluable. He has developed close friendships with many of his brothers, and knows that these will be lifetime relationships. He explains, “What I love about Phi Gamma Delta is that all the members are supportive of each other.” Joining Phi Gamma Delta not only increased his social network, but also allowed him to help others by providing social and emotional support. Tyler Kinnerup has a long history of volunteering and working with his local church, so he wanted a fraternity where he could continue to provide a similar type of support. He feels that his involvement with his fraternity has increased his empathy and altruism.

Tyler Kinnerup has enjoyed his time with Phi Gamma Delta fraternity, and is excited about the future of the fraternity. He hopes to one day attend the alumni events that he has worked on for current alums, and is eager to share his experiences with new generations of Phi Gamma Delta members.
