Working in a summer camp or youth program is one of the best learning experiences available for students. By signing on with a youth program, young people are given a chance to work closely with a wide variety of people, deepening their understanding of the world and of the variety of people that occupy it. A summer working in a youth shelter is a great learning experience for anyone that signs on.

Joshua Lundberg was recently selected to work in a youth program for the summer. This program, located in continental Europe, gave Joshua Lundberg the opportunity to work with impoverished young people all summer. Joshua Lundberg's exposure to the impoverished young people who enrolled in the program helped develop Joshua Lundberg's compassion and pushed him to do everything he could to help his new friends. “I saw regular people who were in need,” explained Joshua Lundberg, “And I couldn't help but feel responsible. I wanted to do whatever I could to help them and meet their needs.” While Joshua Lundberg was lacking in resources, he was able to give his time and attention to the people he met and spent the summer forging meaningful relationships with the students involved in the program.

For the duration of his time in Europe, Joshua Lundberg made a point to do everything he could to help those in the program. Joshua Lundberg's supervisors were impressed with his strong work ethic and his desire to get things done. Joshua Lundberg quickly became an indispensable part of the program and was viewed as a valuable asset. Joshua Lundberg's intelligence and hard working personality were a great help to the program during his time there.

Joshua Lundberg sees the summer in Europe as a turning point in his life. He became aware of the struggles facing people across the globe and truly began to understand that people of other nations are the same as those in America, facing the same challenges and trials. Joshua Lundberg hopes that he will continue to find ways to help those in need and wants to find opportunities to help people whenever possible.
