Senol Taskin has enjoyed a long career as a freelance financial journalist, getting his start when he had his first article published in 1991. Since then, he has travelled the globe in the pursuit of a story, spending a particularly large amount of time in Africa covering the burgeoning economy in the region, how internal factors have affected its growth and what Africa’s continued growth means for the Western world.
Having enjoyed more than 20 years in the sector, Senol Taskin is now looking into ways that he can pass on his knowledge to a new generation of journalists, in the hope that he will be able to inspire them to pursue their aspirations with the same dedication and vigor that he has for the entirety of his career.
With that in mind, he is delighted to announce that he is working on his first book, which will recount his experiences in the field, the qualities that are required to become a success as a journalist and the importance of having the right education and learning from your experiences.
Having always been the sort of person who loves to embrace a new challenge, Senol is finding the experience of writing the book to be extremely invigorating. Not only has it allowed him to cast an eye over the extensive body of work that he has developed over the years, enabling him to relive some of his fondest memories in the process, but he has also found that writing a full book is an entirely different concept to writing an article.
It is a challenge that he has relished since first deciding to begin writing and he has enjoyed the learning curve that writing the book has presented to him.
Senol Taskin hopes that the finished product will not only make for an interesting account of the experiences he has enjoyed during a career that has spanned more than two decades, but will also make for a useful learning tool for those who are just taking their first steps into the field. He believes that new journalists will be able to start their careers with a surer footing through leaning from his experiences after reading the book.
