Scholar, visionary, peace activist, and pro-development academic Kamil Idris is working on the development of a new theory in Economic Development and Macroeconomics. Kamil Idris is a seasoned international professional in law and economics. He has served as a leader for a multitude of committees and international organizations.

Kamil Idris is the Former Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The mission of WIPO is to promote innovation and creativity for development of all countries. The organization promotes the economic, social and cultural development of counties through an international intellectual property system. “WIPO is an agency of the United Nation. The organization uses services to make obtaining patents, trademarks, and designs easier,” says Kamil Idris. The organization also functions to resolve intellectual property disputes.

Kamil Idris has been the recipient of numerous awards following his work in the field of intellectual property. His awards have come from nation around the World. His more recent awards related to intellectual property were awarded to him by the Venice Authority on Intellectual a Property and in 2008 and 2009. “I was awarded the World Intellectual Property Organization Medal in 2008, a medal from the Regional Institute for Intellectual Property of the Faculty of Law, University of Helwan, Egypt in 2008, and the Distinguished Medal of the Sudanese Centre of Intellectual Property, in Khartoum, Sudan in 2009,” says Kamil Idris.

His knowledge and study of intellectual property has inspired Kamil Idris to write extensively on the subject. In 2003, Kamil Idris published “Intellectual Property – A Tool for Economic Growth,” and in 2006, published, “The Intellectual Property-Conscious Nations: Mapping the Path from Developing to Developed.” The role of intellectual property plays a large part in the economic success of developed and developing countries today and is why arbitration on intellectual property disputes is necessary between countries at an international level.

Kamil Idris continues to study intellectual property but also looks at economic growth as a whole. He plans to release his new theory in Economic Growth and Macroeconomics soon. With a history working on intellectual property issues and his international recognition for economics, Kamil Idris is optimistic his new theory will be accepted by the economic scholarly community.
