Earlier this year Rhenne Cervantes was elected to be the Senior Warden at Christ Church Covington in Covington, Louisiana. Christ Church Covington is an Episcopal church originally built in 1846 by English settlers. It is one of the oldest churches in Louisiana still in operation.

Rhenne Cervantes is viewed as one of the leaders in Christ Church Covington, and as such he has held various roles of leadership in the past. In the year prior to his election as Senior Warden, Rhenne Cervantes was elected to the church’s Vestry. Senior Wardens are usually required to first be a part of the Vestry, before holding a higher warden position.

Rhenne Cervantes comes from a well-educated background. He received his first degree of higher education from the University of the Philippines in 1986, a BA in Philosophy and Political Science. He later graduated from Notre Dame Seminary with a Masters in Divinity in 1992. Since that time he has held a variety of roles, most notable of which was his status as Archdiocese of New Orleans for 15 years.

As Senior Warden, Rhenne Cervantes is charged with representing the lay people of the church before the church officials. Rhenne Cervantes is required to maintain peace and order at all times, an ability he has been naturally blessed with. “My whole life I have had a knack for organizing things. I enjoy leading people and making sure a proper order is being followed,” said Rhenne Cervantes. Additional responsibilities include keeping inventory of valuables and possessions.

Rhenne Cervantes looks forward to serving his term as Senior Warden, and relishes the chance to help the church he loves so much. “There is nothing I want more than to see this church continually grow into the purpose it was meant for,” said Rhenne Cervantes. “If I can be even a small part of that process, I will have done my job,” he continued.

Outside of his work with the church, Rhenne Cervantes works for McMath Construction as a Project Development Manager. Rhenne Cervantes has worked for McMath for nearly eight years, and is one of their most respected employees.
