Ramona Maharaj from the City of Hamilton gives an insight to the manners needed for hiking.

Ramona Maharaj from the City of Hamilton has been working as an English instructor teaching abroad for many years now. While she is passionate about her career, she is equally dedicated to her hobbies. One of her favorite hobbies is to go hiking on a challenging trail whenever she gets the chance. While this can be fun and interesting, there are certain unspoken rules and etiquette that one must learn about hiking in order not to offend other nature lovers. Learning these rules is often a matter of experience, but an ambitious hiker can learn proper hiking manners before setting out on the trail.
One of the things that other hikers will appreciate when you are on the trail is peace and quiet. Some of the hikers go out into the wilderness to escape the noise of urban areas and outside life. So it is considered courteous to hike in a quiet manner. That often means talking in a low voice to your friends, turning your cell phone to vibrate, and simply enjoying the soothing sounds of nature. Another thing that hikers appreciate is keeping a trail clean. http://ramonamaharajcityhamilton.yolasite.com/
You should never litter, especially during a hike. Even biodegradable items like apple cores and banana peels shouldn’t be thrown down haphazardly. That is because it can be bad for the local animals if they eat it, and also clutter up the trail as it decomposes.
If you wish to bring a pet on the trail, it is important that you keep it under control and on a leash. Be courteous and mindful of other hikers. Also be sure to clean up promptly after your pet goes to the bathroom. Lastly, if your pet is not well-trained or tends to bark when it meets strangers, perhaps it would be best to leave the pet at home until a time they become more accustomed to people.
Ramona Maharaj from the City of Hamilton has been hiking for many years now. She has learned that having etiquette on the trail and being considerate of other hikers is as important as properly preparing for your hike. Good etiquette helps ensure that everyone can enjoy their scenic hike.
