Police Officer Aids Safety Campaign

Nicholas Brems, a Clearwater police officer, recently helped execute the local “Buckle Up” campaign.

Nicholas Brems has seen firsthand during his time as a police officer how vital it is that people follow basic guidelines when they go out on the highway. Nicholas Brems knows that for many people, driving can be a risk. In these cases, it is useful to have all the available help working in favor of helping the individual survive and avoid risks. One thing that has been extremely helpful is the enforcement of state seatbelt laws. For common drivers, seat belts can be something of an inconvenience. They often are uncomfortable and require customization to line them up properly with the driver and passengers. For Nicholas Brems, seatbelt policy is incredibly important. Nicholas Brems believes firmly that if the community can get behind police efforts to increase seatbelt usage, fewer wrecks would be catastrophic.

Recently, the Clearwater Police Department participated in a national initiative that encourages citizens to make use of their seat belts and writes tickets to those who disregard the rules. Nicholas Brems has helped execute this initiative before from behind the scenes, and this year, Nicholas Brems helped by going out and being an active part of the traffic stops. Nicholas Brems' long career on the police force has given him insight into the methods and techniques used by police officers to enforce this type of rule. Between checkpoints and driving about town looking, Nicholas Brems has helped cut the number of unbelted drivers in Florida by a significant percentage.

Nicholas Brems is intensely proud of his work with the Buckle Up campaign, and is looking forward to the next iteration of the campaign. When asked, Nicholas Brems had this to say: “The Buckle Up campaign is a great way to address a pressing issue within the community as a whole. By pursuing those individuals who are unwilling to wear their seat belts, police officers help cut down on the amount of risky drivers and have helped prevent countless automotive fatalities.” Nicholas Brems has served as a traffic officer for a very long time and is considered an expert in traffic safety and accident investigations. Nicholas Brems knows how important seatbelts are to people who are driving.
