While many of his friends are out at parties or attending social events, Ogden O'Reilly-Hyland spends his time learning about a variety of issues facing societies across the globe. In his travels with family, Ogden O'Reilly-Hyland has gained an awareness of global concerns such as poverty, hunger, and war. Recently, Ogden O'Reilly-Hyland was praised for his advanced knowledge of global issues and the steps he has taken to improve the lives of others.

In addition to traveling, Ogden O'Reilly-Hyland has gained an awareness of global issues through his mother, a lifelong activist. Regarding his awareness of global issues, Ogden O'Reilly-Hyland had this to say: “I am very fortunate to live in the United States because I don’t have to worry about when I am going to eat next or if I will be safe while I’m sleeping.” For only fourteen years old, Ogden O'Reilly-Hyland is wise beyond his years.

Ogden O'Reilly-Hyland has already taken steps to improve the lives of global citizens through charitable efforts. In response to the crisis in Darfur, Ogden O'Reilly-Hyland created and sold T-shirts to raise funds for Darfur residents. Additionally, Ogden O'Reilly-Hyland and his family have been active in efforts to support education in Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. Ogden O'Reilly-Hyland is also aware of the needs of his peers within New York City. As a result, Ogden O'Reilly-Hyland and family help support The Mariposa Foundation in New York.

When asked about his plans for the future, Ogden O'Reilly-Hyland had this to say: “I’m very interested in science and technology and how they can be used to help communities.” In the future, Ogden O'Reilly-Hyland hopes to learn more about green farming and agriculture with the goal of eliminating hunger across the globe. Additionally, Ogden O'Reilly-Hyland plans to use social media and his personal blog to educate his peers on the importance of global awareness.

Currently, Ogden O'Reilly-Hyland attends high school in Manhattan. When not studying or planning his next charitable cause, Ogden O'Reilly-Hyland enjoys listening to music, playing the piano, and playing sports. Ogden O'Reilly-Hyland is a member of the US Tennis Association and the US Squash Association.
