Nick Calcanes Overhauls Some Technological Systems at Bank of America

Nick Calcanes, as the Chief Information Officer of Bank of America, recently created and executed a technology roadmap that retired redundant systems.

 
Nick Calcanes became the Chief Information Officer of Bank of America in 2012. Since then, he has managed high-powered teams to improve client information services for all customers and create new technologies that the company’s business clients large and small can use to streamline their own processes. One of the breakthroughs that Calcanes and his teams have executed during his tenure at Bank of America is an overhaul of many technological systems for clients.
Nick Calcanes developed a new technology roadmap that allowed Bank of America to retire many redundant systems and reduce the overall cost to the company by over $45 million. Calcanes has always worked well with teams and with information technology during his long career in the banking industry.
Nick Calcanes graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College with two Bachelor of Science degrees in Economics and Government. Calcanes began his career in banking almost immediately after graduation, eventually moving into Information Technology, an ever-increasingly important part of modern banking organizations like Bank of America. Calcanes is in the midst of his second stint with Bank of America. He first joined to implement new technological features for clients to make online banking possible and easier to use. After working for Ally Financial, Incorporated for three years, Calcanes returned to Bank of America in 2012 as the company’s CIO. He worked hard from there to further develop customer services and products for both businesses and individuals using Bank of America throughout the country.
Nick Calcanes has been one of the leaders pushing the improvements to the many online services that Bank of America provides to all of its customers. He has helped implement many new features that users today take for granted. He was one of the first to start the shift toward paperless billing, which ended up cutting the paper cost to the company and its customers by 60% during his first stint with the company.
Nick Calcanes has achieved many things in his career in the financial industry, but he couldn’t have done it without the talent, experience, and skills of his many teams that he has managed. As a leader, Calcanes has shown time and again that he can drive results and get the most out of every member of his teams.
