While some might view this development as coming a few years too late, Michael Clasby is as happy as a kid in a candy store. He’s getting a new website for his photography business, and he’s excited at the opportunity to showcase his decade-plus experience (and photos) to the expansive web.

“I’ve known all along I had to upgrade the website. But with setting up the website, tying up the loose ends with the far away clients, and helping my wife raise our daughter, a website never seemed that important. All the same, it’s good to be able to showcase some of my work to the world.”

Born and raised in California, Michael Clasby enjoyed photography from an early age. He recalls getting a toy camera as a birthday gift, and he would play with it, pretending to snap pictures of everything around him. He was also a talented runner, and participated in track events in high school. Going into college, everyone – including parents – thought he would lean into his athletic prowess and run with it (pun intended). Clasby toyed with the idea, even competing in some track events at the collegiate level, but soon decided photography was what he wanted.

“There’s nothing like photography, in my opinion,” he says. “Capturing moments on film so that you can view them years later… it’s special.”
Clasby has been successful in his career. After graduating college, he worked as an intern at a local magazine. The experience in the photography department was eye-opening, and he credits the three years he worked there for affirming his decision to pursue photography. After that, he decided to go solo, taking on work as an independent contractor. It involved a lot of travel, but he enjoyed the work. Along the way, he learned how to photograph nature, and some of his work has been used by nature magazines and publications.

With the website, Clasby hopes to show the journey he’s taken since working as a fresh-faced intern those many years ago. Besides, the website will be perfect for new clients who ask to see his portfolio.
