Michael Biering Earns CrossFit I Certification

Michael Biering decides to enroll in a CrossFit certification program and looks forward to putting what he learned into practice.

Michael Biering is sort of a fitness fanatic. He rarely skips a day at the gym and if he does, he goes out for a run or a bike ride. Physical activity and exercise are as important and usual to him as eating breakfast or showering each day. Naturally, Michael Biering enjoys sharing his love and expertise of fitness with anyone who wants to learn. His gym friends kept telling him that he should become a personal trainer or fitness instructor. He began exploring different training programs at local community colleges, but nothing seemed to be quite right for him.
“It was right around the time I had started going to a new CrossFit gym that I experienced some clarity. I wanted to train people to do CrossFit, as it was now something I believed in wholeheartedly. I began researching certification programs and evaluating whether it was financially feasible for me,” said Michael Biering.

Michael Biering already knew how to participate in a CrossFit workout, now he needed to learn how to lead one. He finally found a course that worked with his schedule and enrolled himself. He was a bit nervous and excited about the two-day seminar. Michael Biering knew there was going to be a lot of information crammed into the seminar.

“The certification program ended up being so fantastic. I learned the methodology of CrossFit and foundational movements. Of course, I had learned the movements as a participant but was now perfecting them so that I could teach. I learned how to conduct a class, which is not so easy!” said Michael Biering.

What Michael Biering knew was going to be most challenging for him was keeping a high intensity workout while leading a class. The instructors at the seminar kept reminding the students that it was easy to get distracted. For example, if a client needs help with a particular movement and the instructor spends too much time helping, the momentum and intensity of the workout could be compromised. As with anything else, experience will help Michael Biering become more comfortable. He is eager to begin teaching and sharing his strong belief in this effective form of physical fitness.
