Most people know of Larry Gennari as one of the top 100 lawyers in New England. Larry Gennari is a corporate finance and transactional lawyer who works mostly with high tech startup companies in the area. Others know Larry Gennari as an adjunct professor at the Boston College School of Law. However, very few people realize that Larry Gennari has an undergraduate degree in accounting.

Larry Gennari says that, despite the fact that he is a lawyer now, he continues to use his accounting background on a daily basis.

Larry Gennari recently explained to members of the press:

“Very few people know this about me, but I actually decided to attend law school at the College of William and Mary while working on my accounting degree. As an accounting student, I came to appreciate the ins and outs of corporate finance and transactional law and knew then that it was the best possible career choice for me. Even though I have been a lawyer for many years, I continue to rely on my accounting background on a daily basis.”

Larry Gennari says that his accounting background allows him to be a better lawyer. In fact, Larry Gennari knows that he is able to accomplish work for his clients more quickly because he understands many of the accounting issues that arise in his work as a corporate finance and transactional lawyer.

These days, Larry Gennari spends much of his time teaching as an adjunct professor at the Boston College School of Law. Larry Gennari says that he tries to impart as much knowledge on his students as possible, including some information that is normally taught to people in training to become CPAs. In fact, Larry Gennari encourages many of his students who are interested in transactional law to take or audit a few accounting classes.

“Honestly, I am beginning to believe that CPA coursework should be a prerequisite for transactional law,” Larry Gennari said. “Understanding basic accounting principles is critical to the practice of Transactional law.”

Larry Gennari plans to continue educating well into the future as he truly values both education and the worlds of accounting and law.
