For over 15 years, Kirk Smith MD of Tulsa has been in practice as a family physician, obstetrician and medical researcher. With a long history of success with treating patients as well as a list of publications, presentations, certifications and licenses under his belt, not only is Dr. Smith an outstanding doctor but he is also an influential and progressive member of the medical field.

Like most stories of success, Kirk Smith MD of Tulsa credits much of his accomplishments to a strong foundation of knowledge that he gained through higher education. He received a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Arizona in 1994, where he earned his degree with Cum Laude honors in after only six semesters of study. After receiving his undergraduate degree, he then went on to attend the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. He graduated from there with his Doctorate in Medicine in 1999 before moving on to his post-graduate studies. He then traveled to the University of Missouri-Kansas City for an internship in Family Medicine. After that, he studied at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine where he completed a Family Medicine residency followed by a fellowship in Advanced Obstetrics where he also served as a faculty member mentoring medical students and resident physicians as they trained to become the next generation of physician leaders in our country.

What followed all that education was a near-decade of significant contributions to his field through patient care as well as developments in research that have made him stand out as an exemplary doctor. He is currently a Family Medicine physician with the Indian Health Service in Dulce, New Mexico; but is only weeks away from relocating to a private practice with Newman Memorial Hospital in Shattuck, Oklahoma in December 2014. With NMH, he will not only be returning to a medical practice where he can focus on his specialties, but will also be in a location that is much closer to his daughter. As a family man who loves his job, he is excited for the opportunity to do what he does best while also being an even bigger part of his daughter’s upbringing.
