Katerina Andriotis-Baitinger is committed to making a difference in how people are educated in the United States. She is a veteran academic and a prolific researcher and writer, who is especially interested in the ways that people learn, and critical of how mainstream educators have historically tried to fit diverse students into the same little box.

Katerina Andriotis-Baitinger holds a Ph.D. in American Literature, Culture and Ideology, which she received from the University of Athens in 1997. She earned an MA in English and Comparative Literature from San Diego State University in 1992. She has held a Yale University Fellowship in Teaching and Learning, a Leadership Fellowship, and has had extensive experience in program development, First Year student services, and Writing Across the Curriculum. Katerina Andriotis-Baitinger has also been a university administrator.

She became interested in the theory of multiple intelligence after discovering the work of Howard Gardner, a Developmental Psychologist and Co-Director of Harvard University’s “Project Zero.” Dr. Gardner, Katerina Andriotis-Baitinger wrote, “discovered that human beings have ‘Multiple Intelligences,’” the notion that intelligence is not a single ability. “At first, Gardner clearly documented seven multiple intelligences which learners may utilize to gain knowledge,” Katerina Andriotis-Baitinger went on. Gardner then added two more.

Katerina Andriotis-Baitinger loved the idea. To her it made perfect sense, and she began researching and advocating about the multiple intelligence theory. “Since learning environments in the college classroom are mostly instructor designed and directed,” she wrote, “the drive to devise and implement instruction technologies, strategies, and materials that would address all students’ learning needs, through the use of humor...appears exceedingly promising.” In 2012 Katerina Andriotis-Baitinger published Multiple Intelligences and Curriculum Development: Shifting the Teaching and Learning Paradigm in Higher Education Through Humor and Technology, which spelled out her ideas in great detail.

Katerina Andriotis-Baitinger is going a step further with a new enterprise, Assessment Plus Higher Education Consulting Services. This is an Assessment Consulting Company based in New York, NY. Katerina Andriotis-Baitinger recently received approval by the Department of Education of the State of New York has given its approval for her to proceed with developing the firm.
