Jules Svidunovich spent Thursday night celebrating an unexpected victory. He and his friends regularly play trivia on Thursday nights, and while they tend to have a fairly good score, they have never actually won the night. Until this most recent Thursday, where, thanks to Jules Svidunovich’s impressive knowledge of World War II history, that changed.

Jules Svidunovich has been a World War II buff for many years now, but until this point, it was an interest mainly confined to his personal time. Occasionally, trivia night would have a question or two pertaining to the War. By and large, however, Jules Svidunovich usually found himself answering questions about sports history instead.

Last Thursday, however, the bar that hosts trivia unexpectedly announced that the night’s theme was major historical events. World War II was an entire section of trivia available to choose from, and Jules Svidunovich knew immediately that his team had this one in the bag.

Whether it be military history, political history, geographical knowledge, or knowledge of the major players in the War, Jules Svidunovich is something of an amateur expert on World War II information. His teammates were reportedly all thrilled to see this category as an option for the night’s game, knowing that they had something of a secret weapon in Jules Svidunovich.

Although the actual prize for winning trivia night is nothing special – a couple rounds of beer on the house - Jules Svidunovich is more excited just to have won something.

“I don’t participate in a lot of competitions,” he says. “I’m just not a very competitive person – would rather watch football than play it, you know? But trivia is the one thing I do compete in, and I like it, so this is pretty exciting, actually.”

Other players that night were reportedly also very impressed with Jules Svidunovich’s World War II knowledge. Jules Svidunovich himself, however, downplays it as just a hobby of his.

“It was a great coincidence that this was what they wanted to ask about,” he says. “But that means this is probably the only time I’ll win, as they’ll never do that again!”
