As an active member of his local church, Jules Svidunovich takes great pleasure in helping with many of the church’s community activities. In the past, he has helped with theater productions and with children’s Sunday school. Most recently, Jules Svidunovich organized and hosted the annual church yard sale.

The church yard sale is a much-anticipated event throughout the year, drawing people from across the town. As the organizer, Jules Svidunovich was responsible for overseeing every aspect of planning the event, from marketing and advertising to refreshments to getting the vendors set up.

As part of a new advertising strategy, Jules Svidunovich not only had flyers printed up and distributed with the event information, but he also took to social media. Jules Svidunovich has been a crucial component in advancing the church’s presence in social media, and the yard sale was the perfect opportunity to continue that effort.

Jules Svidunovich then turned toward organizing those families that wanted to have booths in the yard sale. The church provided tables to lay out wares, but the families were responsible for getting their goods to the church.

Jules Svidunovich also enlisted help from several parents and children in organizing a bake sale, the proceeds of which were given to the Sunday school. The bake sale was a rousing success, with enough money raised to fund the entire Sunday school group upcoming field trip to volunteer at a soup kitchen.

Proceeds from the yard sale itself went primarily to the families. However, each family donated 15% of their earnings to the church as well, to help cover the cost of setting up the yard sale. Anything that was left over after that went toward the costs for production of the upcoming Christmas theater production.

Jules Svidunovich is thrilled to have been a part of the yard sale this year. It was his first year hosting the event.

“I had such a good time,” he says. “Everyone is always really excited about the yard sale, and it was a great experience to be able to put on a really quality event. I can’t even tell you how many people came, to shop and to sell. The smiling faces alone were worth the effort.”
