Ever wonder what it was like to be a cowboy? Have you ever had the desire to herd cattle? How about Texas Longhorns? Well if you are up for the challenge, then you need to participate in the City Slickers Round Up at Sleepy Sheep Ranch. Not only will you learn the basics of how to herd the animals, but you will get an opportunity to try it out for yourself.

“This is how we teach what we call city folk how to move a real Texas Longhorn,” says Dave of Sleepy Sheep Ranch. “It is not only fun to try, but it is fun to watch.”

During the City Slicker Round Up at Sleepy Sheep Ranch, folks will learn how to move the longhorn in the arena first. Then, once you are comfortable, you head out to the pastures. That’s when you get a chance to herd an entire group of Texas Longhorn. You will open the gates and take the cattle through multiple pastures.

“I had the time of my life. I felt as if I were a cowboy from the 1800s taking my cattle across the trails,” says Mike Jones. “I have never experienced anything like that in my life.”

But be careful! Sometimes those cattle can slip away, and as the herder, you have to chase them down and bring them back which is never an easy task.

“The best part is watching people chase these longhorns around,” says George Smith. “It’s like watching a comedy sketch unfold right before your eyes.”

Sleepy Sheep Ranch does say this is a challenge only for those who are out to have a good time and enjoy something they will remember for a lifetime. That means those who are like Grumpy Cat are not allowed at Sleepy Sheep Ranch unless they can transform their sour puss into a big ranch smile.

“It’s all about having fun and getting away from it all,” says Dave of Sleepy Sheep Ranch. “Everyone has stressful things in their lives; this is a way for people to relax and enjoy themselves in a peaceful and safe environment.”
