Slightly over ten years ago, Jocelyn Vegter made the decision to step into the male dominated field of information technology. It was this important step that would change her life forever. Jocelyn Vegter had this to say: “I always knew I was gifted when it came to understanding how technology works, and the profound impact it has on society.” Intuitively following her gut, Jocelyn Vegter started upon her professional adventure shortly after high school, obtaining a technical degree in web development and business programming.

Soon after, Jocelyn Vegter landed her first job in the field as a production support analyst. Jocelyn Vegter recalls, “Hands-on IT experience was such an integral part of my education, and of really getting the big picture.” Exuding leadership and superior analytical thinking skills, Jocelyn Vegter quickly became recognized by her employers and colleagues for her gift. After trying out different facets of the industry, Jocelyn Vegter finally chose to concentrate her career efforts in the backup and recovery aspects of network administration.

A results-oriented team player, Jocelyn Vegter fosters a team environment no matter where she is employed. Adept at collaborating with others to solve complex technical problems, Jocelyn Vegter’s ability to promote effective team work is second to none. Jocelyn Vegter states, “Any successful business is reliant upon a tight knit team that works well together; without that, even the best plans are hopeless.”

After eight years of professional experience, Jocelyn Vegter really understood that this was where she was meant to be. Making the informed decision to pursue a bachelor’s degree, Jocelyn Vegter enrolled in Strayer University. “It was definitely challenging to juggle work and school,” Jocelyn Vegter recalls. Overcoming the challenge with what seemed like carefree precision, Jocelyn Vegter graduated cum laude from Strayer University in 2011, with a BS in information systems and security.

Jocelyn Vegter was just getting started. Now, only two years later, Jocelyn Vegter holds a senior level backup engineer position for a well-respected company. Regarding her future, Jocelyn Vegter had this to say: “I’m confident in my abilities, but am always aiming higher.” Jocelyn Vegter adds, “I am considering going to graduate school, but I’m also considering starting my own business. For me, the future has endless possibilities.”
