Jeff Hill and the fans of the San Francisco Giants applaud the classy tribute down by Kelby Tomlinson in memorial of Kaiser Carlile.

The Liberal Bee Jays were handed a loss that no one expected. It was a loss that any team would have a tough time bouncing back from. It was not a loss that is recorded in their overall game record, but one that would live on in their hearts and minds. On Sunday, Bee Jays batboy Kaiser Carlile lost his life after fighting to stay alive from being hit in the head with a baseball bat.
Kaiser Carlile was more than just a batboy to the team. The 9-year-old child was a member of the team, a friend, and a little brother to all the team. Related to the General Manager of the Bee Jays, young Kaiser was more than just a batboy. With heavy hearts, the Bee Jays players mourned the loss of their batboy. The boy joined the team at the start of the season and quickly stole all the hearts of the players as he came to each game with great enthusiasm. The Manager of the team said that Kaiser was born to love baseball.
In memorial of Kaiser Carlile, the Liberal Bee Jays decided that they would wear his initials “KC” on their jerseys. Before the patch was made, the team’s General Manager wore a Kansas City jersey in order to wear the initials of Kaiser. The news of the death of Kaiser came to the team on Sunday night after their shutout victory. Together the collegiate summer league Kansas team mourns the loss of Kaiser.
In the Bay Area of California, another player heard about the loss of the batboy of the Bee Jays. Former Bee Jay Kelby Tomlinson, now a rookie for the San Francisco Giants, also felt a pull on his heartstrings when hearing the news about Kaiser. Tomlinson was a great member of the Bee Jays; he led them to a national championship in 2010 when he was on the team. Now in Major League Baseball, Tomlinson looked for a way to pay tribute to his former team and a way to say that he was sending good thoughts to them and Kaiser’s family. Tomlinson knew that Kaiser loved baseball, and thus he decided to dedicate his first hit in the major league to Kaiser.
Jeff Hill and his family are all San Francisco Giants fans. Once they heard and saw what Tomlinson did in a memorial, they knew that they were not just cheering on a team, but players who have real heart. As Jeff Hill knows, having a heart for people is more important than winning games.
