Jason Van Der Slot wishes to celebrate the founding of the Australian PT52 Association. He was born and raised in Tasmania. Tasmania is a small island near Australia. Additionally, Tasmania is in the Commonwealth of Australia. The island state is often abbreviated to simply “Tas,” but it is referred to as “Tassie” to those that live there and in Australia. Jason Van Der Slot has enjoyed spending his life on the 26th largest island in the world. He loves living the island life and is often seen visiting his favorite beaches with his friends and family.

Tasmania is known as the “Island of Inspiration.” It is appropriate then that Jason Van Der Slot is one of its citizens as he has been inspired to do a great many things. One of the things he has been inspired to do is become one of the founding members of the PT52 Association located in Australia. The PT52 might be better known as the Transpac 52 to some. It is a special class of yacht. This type of yacht is used specifically for competitive yacht racing.

Jason Van Der Slot has had a lifelong passion for sailing and for sailboat racing. It began when he was a young boy, when he first started learning about sailing. He loved going out to sail when he was young. He says, “I loved the feeling of the salty air hitting my face, and the feeling of being surrounded by the ocean.” He found that the ocean was very calming and he could not get enough of it. He was taught everything there is to know about sailboats. He learned about the mechanics of the boat. Additionally, he learned about how the sails worked to propel the ship forward at incredible speeds. He also learned about the science of sailing, including the physics of waves, and how they are used for momentum as well.

Eventually, Jason Van Der Slot would learn about sailboat racing. He became just as passionate for racing sailboats as he was about sailing for recreation. He helped to found the Australian PT52 Association, a group for yachtsmen who own a PT52 yacht, but are not competitive sailors.
