After a career as a military nurse and then an Emergency Nurse Practitioner, Greig Ferguson recently decided to return to his passion for clinical instruction by gaining accreditation as a clinical educator. Although Greig Ferguson has been leading clinical courses since 1999, this recent accomplishment allows him to promote himself as a self-employed clinical educator.
In order to achieve this goal, Greig Ferguson has spent over a decade refining his skills as a nurse and an instructor. As a military nurse, he gained the practical experience that lets him bring his courses to life with stories of real-life experiences. In addition, Greig Ferguson’s experience as a military nurse allowed him to sample a number of different types of clinical settings before settling into critical care.
On top of his practical experience, Greig Ferguson has been honored by a variety of memberships with respected organizations. He has been a registered nurse since 2004. In 2010, he joined the Royal Marines Association, and then in 2011, his experience in critical care allowed him to become a member of BASICS Scotland. In 2012, Greig Ferguson became a member of both the Royal College of Nursing and the National Back Exchange.
As he embarks on this new adventure as a self-employed clinical instructor, Greig Ferguson is excited to explore his options and discover new opportunities. “I hope that this new chapter in my life will allow me to gain a deeper understanding of the field,” he comments. “Without the restraints of being employed by one company, I will be able to offer my assistance to the organizations that I believe are successfully impacting the world.”
One example of Greig Ferguson’s commitment to helping great organizations was his recent participation in a massive charity event in London. At that event, Greig Ferguson joined HRH Prince Andrew and a group of fellow climbers as they abseiled off of the Shard for the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund & the Outward Bound Trust. In addition, he regularly contributes to the British Heart Foundation by conducting clinical courses for the respected organization. His work as a self-employed clinical instructor will allow him to continue his involvement with these kinds of organizations.
