Today, George Tkalych is celebrating his being elected as the President of the North Kiwanis Club in Columbus, Georgia. He is grateful for the opportunity to help the not-for-profit organization's mission to serve children all across the world, and particularly in the area of Columbus, Georgia.

George Tkalych is a widely renowned surgeon who recently retired from his successful practice of 32 years. He has earned recognition throughout the medical and educational communities for his innovation in his field. During the 1980s, he became the first surgeon to utilize lasers in doing tonsillectomy. Due to his launching of the use of lasers in tonsillectomy, he was written up in numerous media outlets including magazines and newspapers.

George Tkalych has long believed in the importance of helping others, and as a member of the Kiwanis Club, has eagerly participated in projects that provide opportunities for advancement to young people and many other campaigns designed at providing assistance to those in need – especially children.

Since retiring from his successful practice, George Tkalych has spent much of his free time participating in a number of volunteering activities. His favorite sport is golfing, and he has been a member of and played golf at the Green Island Country Club for about 20 years. He is passionate about bringing the game of golf to youth, especially to those in under-served communities. When it comes to golfing, he has learned to be more patient with himself and the ball and has developed a new set of skills and coordination.

As the new President of the North Kiwanis Club in Columbus, George Tkalych wishes to further the goals of Kiwanis International upon his local community. He is committed to his duties as President and is eager to oversee the many projects that the organization conducts.

It is my goal to provide the best possible service to the organization, and in doing so, assist the mission of the organization at large.
