But what is a quality management system? A quality management system is either an organizational structure, a procedure, or a set of processes needed to implement quality management. Although it did not start out this way, quality management systems deal in sustainability and transparency for businesses. A QMS makes sure that both the investor and the customer satisfaction levels are as high as possible.

The International Organization for Standardization has implemented various systems in order to help to improve quality management systems. Its most popular program is known as the ISO 9000 family of standards. These standards have been created in order to assist companies in making sure that they are providing satisfaction to their customer base, as well as their investors. The other most popular system is a technical specification that is referred to as TS16949. It has been developed in order to improve the defect and waste prevention systems in the supply chain.

For many years, Gary Supeau has used these important systems in order to do his job. A big part of his daily responsibilities includes the procurement of raw materials that his company needs to use in order to produce their goods. Gary Supeau is required to travel the world in order to find these goods, as they need to be of a high quality while at a low price. Gary Supeau says of the quality management systems, “I use various quality management systems every day in my job. Were it not for these important systems in place, I would not be able to lead as effectively as I have been. These standards have become a part of how I do my job, and how I lead my team. Most importantly, I would not be able to cut operating costs as efficiently. These standards are the ones in which any good business needs to stand by and I am proud to say that I and my company always have.”
