Evelyn Ackah is a successful attorney who specializes in immigration and citizenship law. She is a respected member of the Canadian Bar Association, Law Society of Upper Canada, and Law Society of Alberta. Evelyn Ackah has a long history of serving in a prominent position as she was the president of the Black Law Students Association while in law school. Today, she is very committed to her efforts with Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is a non-profit organization that pairs a child with a mentor / role model figure. Children dealing with difficult family or social environment are targeted as being in special need of assistance. Many children grow up without the companionship or even existence of a positive role model who can warn them of the challenges life will throw at them and how best to respond. Our modern cities open many new, exciting doors, but there also many doors leading to destruction and unhappiness. Adults cannot claim to know the meaning of everything or why certain things come to be, either, but the interaction of an adult who is personally striving to be a better person each day by spreading love and knowledge with a child is invaluable. The relationship benefits both parties involved as the mentor has an increased responsibility to be a beacon of light and discipline.

Research has shown that children participating in Big Brothers Big Sister are 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs, 27% less likely to begin using alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class, and 33% less likely to hit someone than other struggling children. Evelyn Ackah is very proud to be a supporter of such an important organization, and the organization is pleased to have someone as intelligent and compassionate as her.

Too many times we see violence and poverty as being confined to distant countries as if we have been displaced, but many communities are underdeveloped right below our noses. These communities are caught in the midst of drug wars, and a lack of education and infrastructure makes it hard for their youth to gain hold of a ledge to pull themselves up. Wisdom is one thing that a mentor can offer their little brother or little sister. A visible example is another thing they can offer. Evelyn Ackah loves that she is in a position to offer both. A specialist in citizenship and immigration law she has worked closely with many people from impoverished parts of Central and South America so she understands how far a little help will go.

Evelyn Ackah is very optimistic about the future of America as she has personally witnessed Big Brothers Big Sister help countless individuals. There are many people out there with a common commitment to promoting change for the better. With the hands of all members of society, there is no doubt that we can build a civilization that functions more peacefully and happily.
