Destiny Ramjohn is a sociomedical expert, researcher, analyst, and graduate of Columbia University. Since receiving her Ph.D., Destiny Ramjohn has had incredible career opportunities to work as a program evaluator, qualitative researcher, and medical sociologist. Her recent career highlights include, but are not limited to:

• Sociomedical researcher. Throughout much of her career, Destiny Ramjohn has been focused on qualitative research methods to help make a difference in the lives of other people. Her research and findings allowed her to contribute to published journal entitled The Influence of Substance Use, Social Sexual Environment, Psychosocial Factors, and Partner Characteristics on High-Risk Sexual Behavior Among Young Black and Latino Men Who Have Sex with Men Living with HIV: A Qualitative Study.
• New York State Health Foundation. From 2006-2012, Destiny Ramjohn worked with the Foundation as a program evaluation consultant. Most notably, she designed the three-tier evaluation technical assistance program. The goal of this evaluation program was to help the Foundation reach its strategic goals by creating more efficient internal processes. This system was recognized as “Top 10 Strongest Achievements” of the Foundation in 2008.
• IKP Centre for Technologies in Public Health. In 2009, Destiny Ramjohn was awarded an extremely competitive national grant that provided her the opportunity to perform fieldwork in Chennai, India. During her work abroad, Destiny Ramjohn examined processes in the local healthcare systems in three villages. She examined gender inequalities and worked to ensure that females had better access to services. She designed and executed the evaluation of the Community Health Worker program.

What has been the biggest highlight of your career so far?

“The opportunity to use my expertise in qualitative research methods and program evaluation in my everyday work is an incredible opportunity to grow the healthcare industry that I’m so passionate about,” says Destiny Ramjohn, Ph.D. “When people think of healthcare, they usually envision doctors and nurses, who are absolutely crucial! But the reality is that there are many other professionals in the industry who have helped develop the technologies, processes, and practices that we all enjoy today.”

Indeed, through her work in program evaluation and qualitative research, Destiny Ramjohn has helped strengthen the healthcare system both at home and abroad.
