Claudio Cerullo has dedicated much of his career to providing support to those who have been the victim of bullying, motivated in part by experiences he endured as a child. As an educator with more than 20 years of experience he has always worked alongside his colleagues to provide a safe environment for students, which he continues to do as the principal of a high school in south New Jersey. However, he also focuses much of his time on the non-profit organization Teach Anti-Bullying, which he founded in 2011 to raise awareness of the issue and provide support and guidance to those who wish to tackle bullying in their local communities.

He has become a leading authority on the subject of bullying as a result of this hard work and his organization is always keen to work alongside fellow anti-bullying advocates in an effort to further the cause. This lead to him becoming aware of the award-winning short film Ronan’s Escape, which aims to highlight the devastating effects that bullying can have on a young person’s psyche.

Together with the makers of the film, Claudio has created an educational curriculum that helps teachers explain the message behind the film, allowing them to incorporate it into their classes. The aim is to make it a powerful educational tool that allows viewers to understand the underlying message of the story being told, while also offering students the opportunity to discuss the issue of bullying in a classroom environment.

Rolled out in 2013, these educational kits are now in use by schools in Australia and the USA, helping faculty to address the issue of bullying in a manner that does not seem condescending or derogatory, instead providing a clear educational structure for them to follow.

Claudio Cerullo aims to continue his efforts to work with fellow teachers to create better educational materials relating to the issue of bullying. In addition to having published books and articles on the subject, he continues his work with Teach Anti-Bullying in an effort to provide resources to help communities battling their own bully issues and recognition for the people who are going out and affecting change.
