When you’re a passionate doctor like Alex Funicello, then every healthy patient is worthy of a celebration. And when that number of patients adds a new digit, there is even more to be happy about. This has been the goal of Alex Funicello for most of his life. Ever since he was a little kid, he knew he wanted to be a doctor. Even some relics of his elementary education reveal that he decided he wanted to be in the medical profession at a very young age; and at no point did he ever consider a different career path. He was an exceptional student throughout all of his primary education, with all of his report cards up until graduation reflecting honor roll at the very least.

While Alex Funicello always knew he wanted to become a doctor, Alex Funicello hadn’t decided on pulmonology until he was in high school. During that time, a close relative of his had been diagnosed with a late stage of terminal lung cancer, which caused devastation in Alex’s life that he quickly turned into inspiration. He decided from then on he wanted to be a lung doctor, and help in the effort to preventing a similar fate for others.

His exceptional performance in high school got him into a good college, where he zoomed through his undergrad studies with his focus set on the future. He had researched medical schools for years and decided the Baylor School of Medicine would be best for him; and sure enough, he was accepted into the program. Throughout his years in medical school he was a devoted student who assembled many study groups, one of which is where he met his now-wife. After graduating, she had been offered a residency position in Fresno, CA; and Alex Funicello had decided to follow and find his own career path. After working in hospitals and intensive care centers, he had officially gained the credentials to open up his own practice, which has now been in business for over fifteen years.

Within those fifteen years have been hundreds of patients that Dr. Funicello has made a positive impact on, which is surely a cause worth celebrating.
