The written press release tells you about the B.R.A.K.E.S organization and its upcoming events.

As most of you know, B.R.A.K.E.S. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, reliant on the generous donations of those who believe in our mission to make the roads safer. What you might not know is that we were recently upgraded from a Gold- to Platinum-star rating by Guide Star, the world’s largest source of information on nonprofit organizations. This accolade places B.R.A.K.E.S. among the very best in the world for efficiency, effectiveness and transparency. For every dollar donated to B.R.A.K.E.S., 83 cents go directly to advancing safe teen driving. (The balance covers administration and fundraising.) Having the highest possible rating with Guide Star is a huge vote of confidence for our organization, but we’d like your vote, too. So, if you have a chance, go to GreatNonProfits.org or our Facebook page, and leave us a message or write a short review. Our goal is to make driving safer for everyone, and although we have made a difference, a lot of work still needs to be done.

FORE the Kids, 10th Annual B.R.A.K.E.S. Golf Tournament

The 10th annual “B.R.A.K.E.S. Fore the Kids” golf tournament was a massive success. About 120 people joined Doug at the Rocky River Golf Club in Concord, North Carolina, making this year’s tournament the most successful yet. Many participants were celebrities who have helped B.R.A.K.E.S. since the program’s inception. Some of the VIPs included Bobby Allison (NASCAR Hall of Famer), Felix Sabates (NASCAR), Clay Millican (NHRA), Steve Johnson (NHRA), Carolina Panthers Head Coach Ron Rivera (NFL) and more. Because of everyone’s incredible support, this tournament generated record proceeds.

Allstate Community Grant

Thank you to Allstate volunteers Wallace Burbage and Sandra Rabon for being a positive force for change in our community, giving their time and enabling us to receive an Allstate Foundation Helping Hands in the Community grant. Sandra has a special connection to our program. Having lost her son Tripp in a crash, Sandra has worked closely with her community to bring B.R.A.K.E.S. to Charleston, South Carolina. An Allstate agent, Sandra has received tremendous help from her employer, which has supported the Rabon family, stressing the importance of teen safe driving skills. Between Allstate and the local community, more than $7,000 was raised to bring B.R.A.K.E.S. to Charleston in honor of Tripp, with the goal of preventing other families from enduring the same tragedy. The Allstate Foundation supports the causes that Allstate agency owners, financial specialists and employees care about most, by providing “Helping Hands in the Community” grants to nonprofits, volunteering. their time to bring out the good in their communities.
