The JDR Group have been planning ahead in support of Cancer Research UK’s Derby 5km Race For Life Event which took place on Sunday 13th July at Darley Park. They raised over £100 through baking cakes and an office own clothes day which will contribute towards medical advancements to treat cancer illnesses.

Two members of the JDR Team, Leanne Mordue and Shelby Norton, took part in the Derby Race For Life Event and have managed to raise a fantastic amount of £105 between them. Leanne Mordue has also previously taken part in the Race For Life highlighting the company’s continued support for Cancer Research UK.

The Cancer Research UK Charity itself has organised over 230 Race For Life Events this year and all the money raised will go towards beating over 150 types of cancer such as; lung, bowel, breast and prostate cancer. Furthermore since The Race for Life events began in 1994, six million women have taken part and raised over £493million for the charity. Many companies and organisations support Cancer Research through fundraising, sponsorship and events. Therefore due to the funds raised, in 2010 scientists discovered a 5 minute screening process to prevent one third of bowel cancers and save thousands of lives.
