Ryron Gracie signs on to the San Jose Real Podcast to talk about the reason his family created the Ultimate Fighting Championship, why finding balance in life is important, and explains how he can redirect his ego.

San Jose, CA - On July 3rd, 2013, host Chris Rawlins and co-host Erick De Guzman, of the new and upcoming podcast, San Jose Real, sat down with jiu jitsu pioneer Ryron Gracie. Ryron Gracie and his brother Rener Gracie founded the Gracie Academy, an online learning jiu jitsu academy that provides instruction and rank evaluations in Gracie Jiu jitsu. Gracie Academy was created with the goal of sharing and teaching the techniques of Gracie Jiu Jitsu to jiu jitsu practitioners throughout the world.

In the last 15 years Ryron has become a major innovator in the world of jiu jitsu. A fourth degree black belt, Ryron teaches jiu jitsu to regular students, movie stars, and mixed martial arts fighters at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Torrance California. In addition he films instructional videos for the "Gracie Breakdown" and travels quite extensively to teach Gracie jiu jitsu seminars to students all over the United States. With his continued focus, Ryron has trained and continues to train MMA athletes, police enforcement officers and military personnel.

Ryron began the interview by explaining what led to the creation of the Gracie Academy. Setting up the interface to allow students to watch videos and learn the basic jiu jitsu techniques online was very much needed, Ryron commented. An online education exchange allowed Ryron to teach the techniques of Gracie jiu jitsu to people that may not be able to come and train at the Gracie Jiu Jitsu academy in Torrance.

"Gracie University, the reason why it is so amazing is because it is a linear program," said Ryron.

In addition to his wealth of knowledge in martial arts, Ryron also stresses the importance of keeping a healthy balance in life and not viewing what we experience in our day to day lives as neither good nor bad.

"The more you make things really good," Ryron explains, "the more you set yourself up for things to be really bad."
