ADHD stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, it is a neurobehavioral disorder.

 
ADHD stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, it is a neurobehavioral disorder. Symptoms of ADHD include difficulties in focusing, paying attention, hyperactivity, and impulsiveness. If hyperactivity symptoms do not appear, the disorder is called ADD or Attention Deficit Disorder.

First symptoms usually appear before seven years of age and often are continued till adulthood. ADHD in college students can be expressed through the inability to concentrate in the class, restlessness, decreased learning capacity due to lack of concentration, etc. College students with ADHD tend to be male, actually a recent study found that ADHD in college students is found two to four times more in male students than in female students.

To confirm ADHD for student's diagnosis symptoms must be present in two different settings for at least six months. The most common symptoms include forgetting things, frequently switching from one activity to another, difficulty concentrating on one task, getting easily bored, daydreaming, fidgeting, having trouble sitting still, etc.

ADHD in college students can also include difficulties with social skills, about half of ADHD college students can experience rejection by others students. ADHD treatment usually includes combination of medications and applied behavior analysis, counseling and lifestyle changes. It is recommended ADHD College students should get diagnosed and get treated to be able to complete tasks without difficulties, with their full ability.
