Swashbuckling Australia opener David Warner said that he is feeling fitter than before despite not playing two of the last three years of cricket due to his ban from the game for his involvement in a ball-tampering scandal. He also said that playing in the 2023 ODI World Cup remains his "ultimate goal". Currently, the global pandemic COVID-19, which has so far affected over 40 lakh people across the globe, has brought all the cricketing activities to cancellation and also postponed Australia's upcoming international schedule too.

"In the last three years, I'll have had almost two years off, depending on when we play cricket again," Warner was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au. "The longevity in your body helps. The get-ups of training and playing gets harder as you get older but I haven't felt any fitter in my career than I do now.”

He further added, "As the legs get older time will tell. At the moment I'm feeling as fit as a fiddle and if I can keep running between wickets as well as I have done, who knows. That (2023 ODI) World Cup is the ultimate goal."

However, he also said that next year's T20 World Cup in India can be a good time to hang up his boots from the T20 format to give selectors the chance to include youngsters in the team since Australia have lots of talented young blood in the team.

He also said that there will be a few spots open up as Aaron Finch to follow him too. Even a window for Big Bash League is likely to be created as well. Warner, who hasn't played a BBL game in last seven years, said he will decide if he wants to return to the domestic league or not this year since the cricketing world has been stopped all activities due to the global pandemic COVID-19 across the globe.
