In a study conducted by MBO partners, it is found that there is a 10% increase in independent workers in 2013 when compared to the previous two years and the number has reached 17.7 Million. The same study is being conducted in Canada. Although, there is no drastic change has been noted, but independent and contingent workforce is increasing.

During the recession period, temporary and freelancing projects aided many skilled workers in the U.S. It has proved to be a boon for those who want to stay updated on their skills and aptitude during the great recession. Freelancing and contingent job roles have added to their profiles, which eventually helped them in their job search.

CareerBuilder has found that more than 40% of the employers preferred the employees on a contract or temporary roles this year. The reason behind this is the employers prefer to hire professionals who are trained in the business specific domain to work for short term projects.

Temporary job roles not only offer flexibility to work, but also highly paid projects which can be an add-on to your income apart from full-time pay scale. Usually many professionals prefer this option as part-time or weekend work opportunity along with their regular 9 to 5 Jobs to earn an extra income.

Besides this, temporary and freelancing jobs are a good platform to learn for the beginners. They can work on small projects of start-up enterprises to experience and earn at beginner level.
To excel consistently in temporary job roles, it is important to lay a bridge of communication with the employees of the firm where you are on a temporary or contract role. Establishing a professional relationship with the people and firms in your career streams will open gates for multiple opportunities.

No matter how flexible work schedule you follow, work ethics matters equally on temporary job roles as well.
