Videocon Telecom, the versatile, friendly and dynamic telecom brand of the $10 billion worth Videocon Group today talked about its plan for Haryana Telecom circle. With over 2.1 Mn subscribers, the telco currently has a Customer market share (CMS) of 9.3%, and growing. The Telco will be delivering EBITDA positive in the circle by end of current financial year, which would be one of the fastest EBITDA positive in Telecom i.e. within 3 years.


The telco which recently sold its spectrum in Gujarat & UPW circles for Rs 3310 Cr plans to invest a part of the proceeds in Haryana circle. By end of next financial year, the telco plans to invest Rs 115 Cr in the circle on Network expansion and up-gradation, building data capacity and Business Development.


The telco which currently has a coverage footprint with 3030 BTS in the circle plans to deploy 450 more BTS from the pool of 2000 BTS of Gujarat and UPW circles, and expand its coverage across 182 new towns and villages in the circle.


As per the telco, there is ample and more space for Regional players in the market. For approx 95% of the customer, 95% of their usage happens in the Home Network, and it doesn’t make any difference to the customer whether or not their Service provider is a PAN India player. We anyways provide PAN India Roaming thru other partner operators, the telco added.


Further, Videocon Telecom which has 5 MHz of liberalized and contiguous spectrum in 1800 Mhz band, which is considered to be the best for 4G services, is in active discussion with other telco(s) to provide 4G data services in the circle thru spectrum sharing.


Mr. Arvind Bali, Director and CEO, Videocon Telecom said, “We are here to stay, the sale of Gujarat and UPW spectrum doesn’t imply we are exiting Telecom business, instead it implies that now we have more resources to further invest in our business in other circles. Haryana is our fastest growing circle and we will continue with our aggression in the circle.

We will further strengthen our Network in Haryana and will be investing over Rs115 Cr by end of next financial year in the circle on Network expansion and up-gradation, data capacity build up and Business Development. Further, of the 2000 BTS from Gujarat and UPW, we will be deploying 450 BTS in Haryana to strengthen our Network here.

We will soon be offering 4G services in select cities in the circle thru Spectrum sharing with other operator(s)” Mr Bali added
