Adani Group to invest Rs 49,000 cr in Gujarat; Ambani unveils Jio's digital plans

Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani has announced an investment plan of Rs 49,000 crore in Gujarat, for expansion of port capacity and foraying into water and cement businesses over the next 5 years.

While addressing the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit-2017, Adani said that the company has already invested Rs 48,000 crore in the state in the last 5 years and plan to invest more in the next 5 years.

The group commissioned 1,648 Mega watt plants aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to make India global leader in renewable energy, said Gautam Adani. He added, the group will be investing Rs 2,000 crore in setting up series of desalination plants across Gujrat and also 10 million grassroots cement plants of Rs 5,000 crore. Moreover, the company will be investing Rs 49,000 crore in Gujarat to create 25,000 direct and indirect job opportunities for local people.

On the other side, Reliance Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani said that Jio plans to connect merchants and shops to make commerce and payment network to maintain Prime Minister Modi’s cashless digital vision. He also added that, it was Gujarat that the first state to cross mark of 50 lakh Jio subscribers.

The Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit-2017 has strategically positioned India as a key destination for international investments.
