But what is it that makes Nike so beloved? In this blog post we'll examine the background of Nike shoes and the reasons they remain popular today.

Nike was established in 1964 through Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight as Blue Ribbon Sports, initially selling Onitsuka Tiger shoes out of the trunk of Knight's car. In 1972, they launched their first shoe under the brand name "Nike," named after the Greek goddess of victory. This shoe was revolutionary in its day, with a woven nylon upper and a sole made from two layers of Ethylene-vinyl acetate foam that cushioned the feet. It was lightweight and comfortable, which made it ideal for long runs. The swoosh logo appeared in the same year, which affirmed Nike's position in the history of sports.

In 1972, Nike launched its debut basketball shoe, the Blazer. This Nike featured a canvas upper and rubber sole , both of which were designed to provide excellent traction on the court. It quickly gained acceptance among professional athletes. Soon after, it had become the choice of many NBA players such as Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. Through the course of this decade, Nike also began to broaden its product lines including other products related to sports like football cleats, and running apparel.
