Are you ready to control your time, income, and own your business? Maybe you’re an UberX driver and see others earning more, in a better car, or with multiple cars?

When I see the pace of Uber’s growth, I cease to wonder why everyone wants to get in the business. However, we have realized that many people who decide to take up the business start out totally clueless and unable to understand how it all works. This post is aimed at answering the popular question, “how does Uber work (For Drivers)?”, revealing the key things that surround the Uber business, hoping that it will help drivers understand what exactly they are getting into before taking the shot.

What Does It Take to Become an Uber Driver?

All it basically takes is a working smartphone either Android, Apple, or Windows phone and a new and classy vehicle which meets Uber’s requirement. In some cities, this car will undergo an inspection to ensure that it is in good working condition and also to ensure it is an approved make and model. One of the very important things also is the age factor. In most cities you have to be 21 or older to be eligible. Also Uber wants drivers to have a decent driving record and a clean background when they run their crime checks.

What Does It Take to Remain an Uber Driver?

There’s a difference between getting in and staying in. To stay in the business, Uber simply wants you to provide their riders a very smooth trip experience. The best drivers are the ones who keep providing high customer service day in and day out. To ensure that all drivers are motivated to do things right, Uber has put in place a rating system that allows riders to rate drivers according to their performance during the trip. Drivers with repeatedly low ratings are kicked off the platform. Also, to stay on the platform, you need to understand Uber’s stand concerning tips. You can throw away the claims that Uber is against riders giving tips or drivers accepting it. In truth, what Uber generally has a problem with is drivers inconveniencing their riders. This brings us to Uber’s problem which is with PRESSURING. You might not know this but some riders deem it unfair for drivers to ask or pressure them for tip and they report such drivers or give them a really bad rating. So, take a tip if it comes and be of good behavior.

Hope you now have the answer to the question “how does Uber work for drivers?” This is how it basically works for Uber drivers. With this info, you are no longer clueless and you know very much what you are getting involved in.
