Another feature of the coastline is that all the three major water bodies important for the cargo movements meet at this point. The Kanyakumari museum is a good place to visit. The other place of historical importance is the Vivekanand Rock by the name of the great sage of India Swami Vivekanand. It is said he meditated on this rock swimming the Indian ocean and took the glimpse of the great Indian continent the independence of which was his sole aim of life. This is located at a distance of 500 meter from the coast and can be reached by ferry.
