Ft. Lauderdale, FL — Beginning in March, the Common Knowledge Scholarship Foundation (CKSF) will launch the first “Tuition Back” scholarship for nursing students in the United States. CKSF’s Tuition Back is a scholarship that helps students review what they have learned in their core courses and compete for a scholarship that will give them all or part of their tuition back for the course.

The March nursing scholarship is a series of three online quizzes that cover content from a standard anatomy and physiology course. The quiz questions are straight forward and include information student will know if they read their textbook. The first of the quizzes becomes available in March and will coincide with midterm exams while the second and third quizzes are preparation for finals. Designed to be as much test prep program as it is a scholarship competition, all students will benefit even if they don’t win the scholarship.

The CKSF nursing scholarship is open to all undergraduate nursing students in the United States and has a general award of $250 for the student that scores the highest in the least amount of time. Fourteen nursing schools, seven public and seven private, are invited to participate in the unique Tuition Back portion of the program. If the winning student is from one of the Tuition Back schools, the student will receive their entire tuition back for their anatomy and physiology class (up to $1,000). The school administrators will also receive data from the program showing how their students scored in comparison to the rest of the participants. The data is meant to help schools identify where their students are doing well and where they may need extra help.

“There are far fewer scholarships for students once they begin college. Our goal is to create scholarship opportunities that reward students based on how well they are doing in their current courses,” says Daryl Hulce, CKSF president. “Tuition Back scholarships are more than just money; they help students review course material and create an opportunity for administrators to recognize their top performing students.”

Funded by private donations, the anatomy and physiology scholarship is the first in a series of Tuition Back scholarships which will include: pharmacology, nursing ethics, biology, and genetics. Registration is now open at www.cksf.org.
