An intervention study with vitamin K2 (MK-7) will show whether vitamin K2 supplementation calcification of the coronary arteries can reduce. At the University of Maastricht is at 36 adults with hypertension, the calcium deposition in the aorta (abdominal), carotid and coronary arteries measured (using a CT-scan); here the total arterial calcium score is calculated. In the study a significant positive association was found between the total arterial calcium score, serum uncarboxylated MGP (ucMGP levels) and low vitamin K status. (15) Vitamin D is involved in the production of MGP, while vitamin K2 cognilift provides for activation of the MGP; Both vitamins are needed for optimal activity of MGP in the vascular wall these results are consistent with a study last year. It proved to be the blood of people with an omega-3 rich diet contain less amyloids, which are proteins that would play a role in the development of Alzheimer's disease There are indications that a good vitamin K (2) status protects against insulin resistance and diabetes type 2. Vitamin K (2) is responsible for the activation (carboxylation) of osteocalcin. Osteocalcin regulates bone mineralization.
