Suhel Seth is one multifaceted man adorning many talents. Besides being the founder and managing partner of the consultancy firm Counselage India, he is also a columnist, keynote speaker, TV pundit and an actor. An alumni of the prestigious Jadavpur University in Calcutta, he had pursued Literature and International Relations as part of his studies. An entrepreneur, activist, actor and author, Seth is best known for his incredible sense of humour and his unconventional take on various situations.

According to Seth, India suffers from a congenital disease: no matter what we are faced with, it always comes down to the bigness of our smallness - an oxymoron that has proved itself time and again. It is almost always about self-interest before national-interest. Given the vagaries of our country, we only tend to elect people based on the most trivial reasons instead of backing it up with reasoned logic as to why the individual wishes to be in public office.

In fact, Suhel Seth also goes on to say that even the state of our media is quite similar. Most journalists and editors today are not quite keen on reporting news. Instead, they wish to be the news themselves. The simplest way to understand this is by having a look at most of our talk shows - the interviewer tends to speak a lot more than the interviewee. From what is being put on the table, it once again reflects the small mindedness of our nation.

Additionally, Seth mentions that any sociological study of the country can give us the fundamental problem within our country - people are so concerned about satiating their self-interests that people simply don't care about what happens to the country. Funnily enough, I now stands for the individual and not for India anymore. However, if we really think about it, this is definitely not a common phenomenon around the world.

Besides being a major name in the industry, Suhel Seth is also a member of the Global Advisory Board of British Airways and is also the first Indian to be so. In the year 2015, he was honoured by Phylicia Rashad, the Hollywood actress along with the non-profit organisation Giving Back Foundation (GBF), for his incredibly active contribution in ushering social change in India.
