ALAUSA, IKEJA, LAGOS - Access to support and information on parenting are now easily available to parents and pregnant women in Nigeria, courtesy of naijaparents.com. The newly launched website is Nigeria’s first information site solely dedicated to pregnancy, birth and parenting.

The founder of the website, Adebayo Ajibola, admits that there is no shortage of information on pregnancy and birth in the internet. However, Ajibola points out, that they are mainly created for mothers in the western world, therefore, many of their features are not useful to African mothers. And Africa women face different challenges from those living in the West. Maternal Mortality Rate in Africa is high, and Nigeria ranks 11th in the world, making it one of the most dangerous places in the world to be pregnant. So, maternal education is very important. By tailoring pregnancy and parenting information and making them easily available to parents and expectant mothers in Nigeria, and the whole of Africa, naijaparents.com hopes to help make parenting a thing of joy and pregnancy safer in the country.

Nigerians are internet savvy, and many of them have access to the internet, particularly the younger generation. So, it makes sense to provide the information through the internet, particularly as some girls get pregnant as young as 15 years old.

The website will serve as a resource site for Nigerian parents for everything, from conception, to safe family planning and raising teenagers. It will offer down-to-earth expert advice on pregnancy and parenting issues, including information on danger signs in pregnancy to healthy eating on tight budget. The site also features stories from African parents who share their personal experiences on pregnancy and parenting.

Readers visiting the site also find links to organisations that offer further support to African women. For more information on pregnancy and child parenting tips in Nigeria or shares your story at visit - naijaparents.com.
