A community is a collection of people that come together with a common goal, a common vision and common ideals to serve the purpose of achieving it. A community comes to be when a group of people at first join hands to establish that union make their vision into reality. Alpha Phi Alpha, a Fraternity and one of the first African-American community was founded officially in the year 1906. The community is an intercollegiate fraternity that was established at Cornell University which started off as a club and later to what is known as a fraternity/community. The goal of the Alpha Phi Alpha is to train individuals for leadership roles, to promote the virtue of brotherhood, and to extend their services for other communities as well. They focus on upbringing the individual and to let them exercise their rights, their humanity, their dignity and their freedom. Their goal is to improve the status of the economy, the society and the intellect so that the bigger picture will be realised by others eventually. They have scholarships for students that would help in sending them to programs as a way to build their morality, their intellect, and their dignity. As a way to support their finance and promote their community, their merchandise are being sold at the Unique Greek Store. The fraternity also involves itself with crucial societal matters that involve the family, individual rights, ideals, and the like.
