EcoCareers is looking forward to the positive impact recent investments in renewable energy will have for the UK’s labour force.

The UK has proven it’s still in the global race to be a leader in sustainable energy with the recent launch of Powering Up Britain and a subsequent £30 million investment in cutting-edge sustainable energy businesses. And EcoCareers is looking forward to the positive impact these initiatives will have for the UK’s labour force.

EcoCareers is an online jobs board and resource website for all jobs in sustainability, whether traditional green jobs like solar panel technicians or environmental scientists to jobs in industries that are newer to sustainability, like fashion and manufacturing. EcoCareers.org seeks to connect employers, hiring managers and HR personnel in the green sector with jobseekers and the top talent in their respective industries.

Joseph Boll, EcoCareers CEO, said, “Although sustainable jobs have been booming recently, especially in the UK, USA and India, businesses in the industry have struggled to fill job vacancies. That’s one of the major reasons why EcoCareers was launched, and as the UK expects an influx in development, there will be even more need for resources like ours to help continue to bridge that gap.”

With sustainable energy being a fairly new emerging market, countries around the world have battled to establish themselves as leaders. There had been some concern among UK experts that the region could be falling behind in that race, especially on the heels of the USA passing its Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) last August. While the UK recorded its highest number of green jobs last year, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), green economy stakeholders were concerned about dwindling numbers at the start of this year. Meanwhile, the United States’ IRA paves the way for some 100,000 new sustainable jobs to be created just within the next year alone.

EcoCareers is thrilled to see the UK government’s strong response via Powering Up Britain and ongoing initiatives that could very well catapult the UK to the top of the global race. It will continue to advocate for ongoing development in renewable energy and green jobs, while remaining prepared to help assist with related job placement across both the UK and North America.
