Renting treadmills is visibly a more popular choice than buying. However, how many bother to note the specifications of a treadmill?

Whether for commercial or domestic reasons, renting a treadmill should be preceded by a thorough evaluation, technical or otherwise. You need to consider the amount of space you have, the number of people meant to use it, the particular nature of usage, etc. Apart from these general considerations, there is a host of minimum specifications, which should be noted before you consider treadmill hire in NZ. The following are the three most crucial points to note.

1. Motor Horsepower

The weight of the runner determines the power of the motor. However, there are general standards which should be noted. A motor with at least 1.5 CHP is considered appropriate. However, if the treadmill is earmarked for frequent use, 2.5 to 3 CHP would be a better choice.

If the runner is particularly heavy, a more powerful motor may be needed. To repeat, the weight of the runner is a crucial determinant.

2. Minimum Criteria

Ideally, the belt size should be 48 inches long and around 18 inches wide. However, the size would vary with the height of the runner. If the runner is over six feet, a 54-inch belt is considered appropriate, both for running and walking.

If running alone is your aim, the treadmill should be able to clock a speed of ten mph, if not more. Also, note whether the cushioning is alright. Check if the belt is too volatile or moves around with each strike of the feet. The treadmill should not shake while you are running or walking. The frame should be stable.
The control panel should be easy to reach and simple to use. Each specification should be noted while you consider treadmill hire in NZ.

3. Consider Your Wants

Lastly, consider how you would use the treadmill. A heart-rate monitor could be one of your demands; or the presence of both incline and decline; you might also want a foldable treadmill if you have space constraints.
The choice of a treadmill is at once subjective and objective. Try and strike a mean between the two.

As said in the beginning, renting is a more popular preference. However, as with purchasing, renting entails similar considerations. Because it is temporary, you should not brush aside the core concerns.
