New Delhi, November 2016: Lava launched a refresh of its X50+ smartphone recently, the phone comes with a 5.5" capacitive touchscreen capable of recognising up to 10 fingers at a time. The resolution of the display is 720p HD and the company has priced the device competitively at Rs. 8,555/-
The refreshed phone comes with a updated internals notably in terms of the internal storage and software. Rest of the specifications remain the similar to its predecessor. The phone is powered by a 1.3GHz Quad Core processor which is coupled with 2 Gigabytes of RAM. The internal storage has been beefed upto 32 GB keeping in mind the selfie and camera shooting capabilities of this phone, however Lava has not dropped support for expandable storage at the expense of this upgrade and users can further insert a microSD card of up to 32 GB.
The Lava X50+ retains its camera setup of the old which has been lauded by many commentators for its picture quality. The back camera is 8-megapixels while the at the front you get a 5-megapixel selfie shooter. Pictures taken with the device come out sharp and colour accuracy is generally good for a smartphone in this segment. Lava has been aiming for a camera phone for the masses for quite a while now and the X50+ might be offering the best balance between a well performing camera phone under 10000 INR at the moment.
As it happens the phone runs the latest version of Android i.e. 6.0, also called the Marshmallow. With Lava devices generally coming with close to stock Android experience on board, the performance of Lava X50+ is good, and apps and games run smoothly in day to day usage. At its price the phone is definitely not meant for power users but satisfies everyday usage scenarios very capably.
Lava X50+ sports dual LTE bands and comes with the rarer support for band 40 used by some telecom brands in India. This, with inclusion of WiFi and Bluetooth makes the phone an all rounder on the connectivity front.
The phone's design and display continue to be inspired by the X50, which only serves to remind how well received the device was in its first iteration. The gorgeous front panel is bright enough for both indoor and outdoor visibility and the viewing angles on the display are also great. Lava has resisted from upgrading the resolution of the panel since HD resolution is still a good balancer between power and performance of this device and provides ample sharpness in text and images regardless.
The battery on the Lava X50+ is a 2800mAH lithium ion variant. The battery is non removable by user.
