The Mizel Museum, a Jewish culture appreciation museum, teaches students more about the Holocaust. Students can learn more about this dark time in history through the museum’s unique exhibits and programs.

[Denver, 06/13/2016] – The Mizel Museum, a Jewish art and culture museum, reminds students, history aficionados, and regular visitors of lessons that can be learned from the Holocaust. Committed to addressing worldwide anti-Semitism, racism, and genocide, the center is dedicated to fostering cross-cultural awareness and understanding.

Through their interactive Holocaust education programs, schools and the general community can learn more about the historical event at off-site locations or the museum itself.

Miryam Brand Holocaust Film Project

The museum offers a must-see film discussing universal lessons from the Holocaust. This year’s film, The Lady in Number 6: Music Saved My Life, is an Oscar-winning documentary about the event’s historical relevance. The film follows Alice Herz-Sommer, a renowned pianist and the oldest known survivor, as she tells her story of optimism and resilience.

The film is open to all Denver metro community schools and groups at $10/person (15 people minimum, 40 people maximum).

Eyewitness to History: A Holocaust Survivor Speaks

According to the Mizel Museum, time has made it increasingly impossible for students to personally meet and interact with Holocaust survivors. Through their unique eyewitness program, students can hear stories about the mass killings directly from a survivor. The Eyewitness package offers discounts, available upon request.

Living Lessons of the Holocaust: Digital Stories

Apart from firsthand encounters, students can also learn more through a series of short videos. The film includes survivors telling detailed accounts of their experiences. Following the stories, a Mizel Museum Holocaust educator will encourage students and visitors to participate in discussions about the survivor’s experiences. With a stable framework and understanding of the material, the educator ensures everyone will appreciate the live accounts of the horrid Holocaust tales.
